Trauma Informed Practice
Working with Trauma Informed Practice means recognising that many of the students who attend our school have had significant Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) that potentially reduce their chances to achieve. When students are struggling to manage their emotions, we recognise the significance of an emotionally available adult and a carefully managed environment. We teach strategies to help students regulate their emotions and behaviour and models to support reflection and restoration. We place well-being as the highest priority and implement strategies and approaches across the whole organisation to ensure the relational and emotional health of all. These approaches together enable our students to engage more with the learning opportunities we provide and begin to achieve their potential.
